“Jon Creeden shared a link to Cactus Vella’s bandcamp and it had that folk punk edge that is just oh so good right now. I quickly got in touch with this Toronto resident.
What are your thoughts on the music scene in your local residence?
The local scene here in Toronto is alive and well. Toronto has always had an amazing scene from the very beginning. On any given night there’s plenty of bands to be seen. There’s always awesome bands playing at The Bovine Sex Club, The Hard Luck Bar, The Press Club, Sneaky Dee’s and countless other venues. Those are just my favorites.
The only thing lacking today in Toronto is venues providing the opportunity to host all-ages events.
How would describe your music style?
I play acoustic punk. Rebel Music.”

“The greatest thing about this is that I get to talk about not only Cactus Vella’s solo project but he is the guitarist in some of my favorite Toronto punk bands. Cactus Vella has been around in the Toronto Punk scene since the early 90’s,and continues to play in Sinkin’ Ships, Class Assassins and The Whiskey Hearts Collective.
One of my favorite things about any musician is when they push the boundaries of their own music. Cactus Vella plays in some amazing hardcore punk rock bands, but who is to say that you can’t go and record a gritty acoustic punk rock album? And he did just that. So here’s a couple of clips of his acoustic stylings….”
